I was ended up traveling to Idaho on business during my birthday. Luckily, I was able to hang out with one of my favorite people in the world while on the trip. After traveling around and working with a few retailers during the day, we ended up eating dinner at a great pub in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The Brownstone Brewhouse is a great place. The food is excellent, their beers are amazing, and the atmosphere is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable experiences I have had while dining out. I would attribute part of the experience to the staff. They hired young, college-aged kids to staff the place. They were fun and seemed to enjoy being there. Our waitress joked around with us and even gave me a beer on the house for my birthday.
The lesson to be learned here is that it is worth waiting to hire the right people instead of rushing to fill positions with warm bodies. The right people will care about what they are doing and will make the experience special for your customers. Warm bodies are there for a paycheck; the customer is secondary.
Do you wait for the right people or do you get in a hurry? How do ensure that you are hiring the right people?
