I have been reading my copy of Tony’s book and have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. It is extremely different from most business book that I have read; however, it illustrates a key point about Zappos – it is a company unlike any other in the marketplace.     I have applied for an Advanced Copy of the book. Don’t know if I will get one. I intend (picking up on your comments) to discuss how the company fits in the BE DiFFERENT Model.

    Sounds like a great idea! I’d say from reading “Delivering Happiness” that Zappos fits quite well into the BE DiFFERENT model. Where I think you will see a lot of similarities is in how the company looked carefully at its market space and chose customer service as the company’s core after noticing that none of their competitors cared about this attribute. Then, instead of getting distracted by lots of fancy marketing and advertising tactics (they simply couldn’t afford them – talk about good fortune!), they did the hard work that was needed to ensure that they remained focused on the basics that would make them great.
