About a month ago, I wrote a book review of Bob Gilbreath’s book, “Tne Next Evolution of Marketing.” I then followed up with a “thank you” post just to let Bob know that his work is making a difference. Bob found both of the posts and made the effort to respond to each of them. Bob is a great example of a person that is using social media (as well as traditional media) to develop a remarkable personal brand. He understands that it takes a lot of work to do, but the results are well worth the work.
Bob recently used my “thank you” letter in a post about “why he wrote the book in the first place. It’s well worth the read.
I have blogged for the last couple of years. It takes a lot of effort, but it important to remember that your efforts are worthwhile. People are listening and, if you put effort into it, they will continue to listen to the ideas you have to share. The exchange I have had with Bob over the last month or so has been a great reminder of that. A simple book recommendation led to a great conversation.
Bob, if you’re listening, thanks for the posts and conversation. If you’re ever in Utah or around the area, please let me know. I’d love to hear any presentations you might give on the subject of meaningful marketing, especially how it might apply to the retail grocery industry.
